Install Official Moto G4 Plus Nougat Update [XT1640/1641/1642/1643]
Prerequisites
  • Make sure your device model number is XT1640/XT1641/XT1642/XT1643. Else, don’t proceed with further unless you want to brick your device.
  • Go to Settings » About phone » Build number and tap it 7 times to enable Developer options on your device. Then go back to Settings » Developer options and enable USB Debugging.
  • Download the Minimal ADB and Fasboot Setupand install it on your computer.
  • Install Motorola smartphone drivers on your PC.
  • Make sure to backup important files on your device to a safe place just in case if you lose the data.
  • Make sure you have enough charge on your device before starting the process

How to Install Official Moto G4 Plus Nougat Update [XT1640/XT1641/XT1642/XT1643]
We’re providing two methods to flash the stock Nougat firmware on your Moto G4 Plus. Both of them use the Fastboot method, so choose the one which is convenient to you.
Method 1: RSD Lite Tool
  1. Download the RSD Lite tool from the above downloads section and install it on your PC.
  2. Download and unpack the firmware on your PC.
  3. Run the RSD Lite tool and click on the “three horizontal dots” button next to Start button.
  4. Navigate to the path where you’ve extracted firmware files and select flashall.xml.
  5. Reboot the phone into fastboot mode. To do this, turn off the phone and press the Volume Down + Power button to enter fastboot mode.
  6. Connect your phone to PC using a USB cable and make sure your device is detected.
  7. Press the Start button and wait until the firmware is installed on your device and phone restarts automatically once completed.
Method 2: Fastboot Method
  1. Download the firmware file and extract the contents on your PC.
  2. Reboot the phone into fastboot mode. To do this, turn off the phone and press the Volume Down + Power button to enter fastboot mode.
  3. Navigate to the folder where you’ve extracted the ADB and Fastboot files and open a command prompt by pressing Shift + Right click on any empty space inside the folder and select Open command window here from the context menu.
  4. Connect your phone to PC using a USB cable and make sure your device is detected using the below command.fastboot devices
    If the drivers are properly installed, you should see your device serial number as output.
  5. Run the flashall.bat script that is in the firmware folder. This method won’t wipe data and cache on your device. So, your data will be safe.
  6. In case you’re coming from a custom ROM, you need to wipe data and cache. So, download the modified flashall.bat and run it instead of above file.
  7. The firmware will be automatically installed to your device and will automatically reboot.
